It was the era when such cartridges were a symbol of technological strength for audio manufacturers. The cartridges were essential for reproducing sound from analogue records. It was not until 1969 that Audio-Technica started to develop headphones. After four intense years of development, 1974 gave birth to three signature models. These models represented the origin of Audio-Technica headphones design, sound quality and supreme build structure which literally put Audio-Technica on the map as a major headphone manufacturer and developer overnight.

2012 welcomed a number of model upgrades and technological improvements within existing headphone range, microphones turntables and cartridges. Improvements in the Ax, ADx, Solid Bass, Earsuit and WM77 were among some of the ranges that were upgraded and expanded in 2012. The ANC9 and ANC23, officially launched globally received high reviews globally. These new noise cancelling models were a clear and loud statement that Audio-Technica makes some of the finest travel headphones in the world. The 50th anniversary celebration carried over from 2011 to 2012 with a wide range of microphones and headphones re-branded to support the celebration. Later in the year the Lp1240 was officially launched as Audio-Technician’s premium DJ turntable with a DJ cartridge to follow this year.
